We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Marpole Neighbourhood House this summer as part of our Fieldhouse programming in Marpole and Oakridge. Join us at the newly renovated Neighbourhood House on July 17th for a children’s sing-along and intro to opera then for a series of 3 workshops on breath, movement, and voice July 24th, Aug 7th, and Aug 21st all from 3pm-5pm.

December 2018

We’re very pleased to announce that the City of Vancouver has granted Opera Opulenza three years as Artists-in-Residence at the Oak Park Fieldhouse! In partnership with our friends at Emily Carr University and chART Public Art, our mandate is to embark on community engagement throughout Marpole and beyond. We are very grateful to the City of Vancouver and the Parks Board for this fantastic opportunity! Stay tuned for more details!

December 2018

We finished our last concerts of the year at Arbutus Manor and the Chalmers Lodge performing duets and arias with only a few Christmas carols. Such good turnouts at each event and they were especially pleased that we didn’t overload the programme with Christmas music! Performers were: baritone Andy Greenwood, mezzo Nadine Cornelius, sopranos Kirenia Sanchez and Trudy Chalmers, plus Roger Parton on piano.

November 2018

Sopranos Tamar Simon, Trudy Chalmers and Brenda Katzef, plus tenor Mark Pepe, baritone Pavol Simoncic and pianist Roger Parton performed for seniors at the Chalmers Lodge. This was our 3rd year performing there and they’ve asked us back to perform a Christmas concert on Dec 15.

We just did a lecture on opera at Emily Carr University with performances by soprano Michelle Koebke, baritone Andy Greenwood and pianist Roger Parton.

August 2018

Tomorrow night – a vocal masterclass with Elaina Moreau, 7 pm, at the Chown Memorial Church (3519 Cambie St.). Don’t miss it! If you’d like to sing in the class, we have two spaces available! Message us to register, and bring two copies of your music. Audience fee is $10, participant fee is $25.

We will be performing the magical opera “The Tales of Hoffmann” at the York theatre July 21 & 22, 2017 starring Sunny Shams as Hoffmann, Andy Greenwood as the 4 villains, Elaina Moreau as Olympia, Shadan Saul as Antonia, Trudy Chalmers as Giulietta, LisaMarie Bresett as Nicklaus, Peter Monaghan as Luther, Crespel and Schlemihl, Jessica Turje as the Voice, and Jim DeLaHunt as the 4 servants.

Thank you to Tom Lee Music for donating a baby grand piano for our production of HOFFMANN.

Cavalleria Rusticana at Minoru Chapel

Opera Opulenza is excited to be performing in Minoru Chapel’s Opera Series this year in Richmond. We will be performing Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria Rusticana in costume and semi-staged June 1st, 2016 at 2pm and 7pm.
